If you are an employer

Online filing presentation

Our specialist online team has developed a short presentation all about sending employee starter and leaver forms and Employer Annual Returns online.

They are free and will help you:

  • understand your online filing obligations
  • tell you about the online filing benefits
  • find out which forms you will have to send online and when
  • register for our online services
  • know how to get more help if you need it when you are doing it online.

Paying your employees - based on the Employers CD-ROM

We will show you how:

  • to calculate tax and National Insurance using the employer CD-ROM,
  • to use P45/P46 for new employees and leavers,
  • to register for online services and
  • where to get help when you need it.

How to use the Employer CD-ROM presentation

This presentation will show you the best features of the CD-ROM, how to use the payroll calculators, fill in forms on screen, view the guidance and give you some tips to make navigation easier.

Paying expenses and giving benefits to your employees

We cover:

  • the most common types of expenses and benefits,
  • any tax and National Insurance you may have to pay.

Statutory Sick Pay (SSP)

We teach you how to pay SSP to eligible employees and what you need to know if you operate your own sick pay scheme.

Statutory Payments

We teach you about:

  • Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP),
  • Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) and
  • Statutory Adoption pay (SAP) including payments and leave.

Completing your Employer Annual Return (P35)

We will show you how:

  • to complete an employer’s End of Year Return

this workshop is an introduction to:

  • Tax.
  • National Insurance.
  • VAT
  • Record keeping.
  • When to pay.

Self assessment for self-employed people

We tell you:

  • how to complete the self-employment pages of your Self Assessment tax return
  • which expenses and allowances you can claim
  • when to send in your tax return, and
  • how and when to pay your tax.

Please note Becoming Self Employed and Self Assessment for the Self Employed are not applicable to Directors of Limited Companies.

If you work in the construction industry

The Construction Industry Scheme presentation – for contractors and subcontractors

We tell you how the scheme works from April 2007and how it affects you. This includes pay procedures and how to make returns.

If you run a company

Setting up a Limited Company

This will be useful if you are about to, or have recently set up a Limited Company. You will learn about:

Introduction to International Trade

A basic presentation about importing and exporting goods.
Aimed at businesses that trade or are about to trade with countries outside the European Community.
We will explain import/export procedures and highlight the various regimes which may save you time and money.

Introduction to VAT

We will explain VAT registration, rates, tax points and claims to input tax. We will cover the different schemes, record keeping, and filling in a VAT return.
