Employer CD-ROM 2008 Revised (August) edition

You will have received a copy of the Employer CD-ROM 2008 Revised (August) edition with your copy of the Employer Bulletin. You must load this straight away.

It includes all the information you need to implement the changes to your employees’ tax codes and tax band width changes, following the Chancellor’s Budget statement on 13 May.

  • If you have previously installed either of the 2008 CD-ROMs, when you load this CD-ROM it will automatically overwrite the previous information. Entries you have made on the Database, P11 Calculator and saved forms information will not be affected.

Tax Codes for use on or after 7 September

You will need to update your employees’ tax codes. Form P7X (2008) (2) included in the What’s Changed for 2008-09 section of the CD-ROM will explain what you must do.

Calculators

The P11 Calculator, the PAYE Tax Calculator and the net pay estimator have all been revised for payments you make to your employees on or after 7 September.

If you are using the P11 Calculator and:

  • you receive a P6T dated 24 August 2008 you must enter the new code in the P6 box of the P11 Calculator when you input the pay details into the P11 Calculator for the first pay day on or after 7 September
  • you don’t receive a P6T dated 24 August 2008 you must follow the instructions on the P7X (2008) (2) and enter any new code by amending the tax code box for each employee in the Employer Database before you input the pay details into the P11 Calculator for the first pay day on or after 7 September Forms and Helpbooks

All the relevant forms, Helpbooks and tax tables have been updated for use on or after 7 September.

Installation on Vista software

We are aware that some employers have experienced issues with installation and data transfer. There are specific installation and data transfer instructions for the 2008
CD-ROM if you use VISTA on your computer. These are available when you select install and data transfer on the CD-ROM. You must follow these steps if you want to transfer the Database from the 2007 Updated CD-ROM onto the 2008 CD-ROM successfully. If you have previously installed the 2008 Updated edition and successfully completed the data transfer then this Revised edition will update your previous 2008 installation.
