Advance funding for Statutory Payments from your Accounts Office – when can you apply?

If you need to make recovery of a Statutory Payment quickly you can apply to your Accounts Office for funding. You can do this where, for example, the amount of money you need to pay out exceeds the amount you will have available for the same tax month or quarter.

In these circumstances you can ask the Accounts Office to pay you the amount you would be entitled to recover, but you can only ask them to repay claims that fall in the current tax year. You need to make a separate request for any weeks that fall in the new tax year at the new rate

Information you will need to provide:

All cases

  • Employer Name
  • Accounts Office reference
  • Employer Reference
  • Name and National Insurance number of the employee
  • The total amount you want us to send
  • The calculation ie. the number of weeks, multiplied by the weekly rate
  • The dates for which you are claiming

If you are claiming Statutory Maternity Pay/Statutory Adoption Pay or Statutory Paternity Pay you should also include:

  • The date the baby is expected or the date of adoption
  • Whether you are entitled to compensation and if so, a calculation of how much you are claiming.

The Statutory Payment Calculators will help you work out how much of the Statutory Payment and compensation you are entitled to recover.

Additional Guidance

  • Statutory Sick Pay is only payable up to the end of the current PAYE month
  • You can claim an advance of the Statutory Maternity/Adoption Pay in a lump sum for the weeks which fall in the current tax year. You should then continue to send us your deductions as normal.
