Employer CD-ROM

The Employer CD-ROM contains most of the forms and guidance you will need to run your payroll throughout the year and there are also calculators and forms you can fill in on screen and save to an employer/employee database.

The CD-ROM is mailed to all employers each February. A further updated version containing Budget changes is issued in April. For 2008-09 a Revised (August) edition is issued in August. This is to take into account changes to tax codes and basic rate band width as a result of the Chancellor’s statement on 13 May 2008. Additional copies can be obtained from the Employer Orderline.

The CD-ROM contains:

  • an Employer and Employee database
  • a P11 calculator that will work out and store your employees’ tax, National Insurance contributions and Student Loan deductions each pay period - including an annual earnings period check for directors at the end of the year or if they leave during the year
  • interactive forms that will pre-populate from the Database and you can complete on-screen, such as P11D which will do the calculations for you
  • most of the forms and guidance you need to help you run your payroll
  • calculators that work out PAYE tax, National Insurance contributions including Directors Annual Earnings period, car and car fuel benefit, Statutory Payments, Student Loan deductions, a P45 checker and a net pay estimator
  • teach yourself learning packages for payroll tasks
  • payroll basics for the less experienced employer
  • a comprehensive search facility
  • video help sections

and new for 2008: Send us your Employer Annual Return online direct from the CD-ROM

You can use the 2008 CD-ROM to send your 2007-08 Return online if:

  • you have used the P11 Calculator on the 2007 CD-ROM to calculate pay and tax for all your employees
  • you were using the P11 Calculator for 9 employees or less at 5 April
  • you transfer your 2007-08 P11 details onto your new or updated 2008 CD-ROM before you make the final payment for the year
  • you have registered to use our online services.
