Management

Meet John Miller

We grow our own senior managers through our Graduate Programme, while many others join us at officer level, our first management level. Ambitious individuals with strong leadership qualities will find this is a great place to start a progressive career.

Officers work throughout our business, so there are many opportunities to specialise at every level, from officer through higher officer to senior officer.

Wherever you join us, you can expect a career-building challenge and ongoing opportunities to develop, perhaps by:

  • leading a team of administrative staff in managing their workloads and developing their skills
  • working with the public in 'casework', perhaps dealing with the more complex personal tax affairs of company directors or business people
  • helping to track down and investigate anyone who tries to avoid paying tax or falsely claims credits

On the whole, most officers enjoy flexible working which enables you to start and finish when it suits you, provided you work your set hours – especially useful if you have family or other commitments.

Prospects

When you’ve successfully completed your probation, you can immediately apply for higher grade posts if you meet the criteria and your manager supports your application. Developmental moves are also available for those who want to keep progressing.

Locations

Officer roles are available at all offices in most major towns and cities across the UK.
